ECB Development Index - ECB Performance
The ECB Development Index is a growth model used by ICB to measure the entities based on the development and maturity of your ECB. This helps the ICB Team to give the proper support for every ECB according to their own reality and needs, using the clusterization system.
Clustering involves the grouping of similar objects into a set known as cluster → Entity grouping.
It means that your reality is “similar” to the ones of your same cluster.
Being in one cluster or another is not good or bad, it just represents the maturity of your processes as ECB and as an entity. This is done in order to give a better path for ECBs and Coaches to understand which are the areas that need improvement.
You can jump from one cluster or another if you improve your processes. This progress gets crystallized as your ECB scores higher in the total number of points that our 2 axes — ECB Performance & Entity Performance (next article) — measure.
ECB Performance Index
The ECB Performance criteria measures directly the processes state of a determined ECB, with different scores for each.
- Audit System Implementation

- 0 = non-compliant system
- 1 = compliant system

As can be seen above, the scores can range from -1 to 1 in each of these topics. As a result, the total score of the ECB Performance Index can range between -8 and 9.
These processes are the ones that bring the fastest ROI (Return of Investment) on ECB Actions, which means that once they are done, they already start bringing results and directly affecting the scores.
The data for these scores are retrieved from ICB Survey Answers and ICB-ECB Touchpoints (such as O2Os and Regional/Global Calls), so one good and easy thing any ECB Chair can do to make sure that their entity is in the right Cluster is to make sure to attend all these touchpoints and answer the ICB Survey properly.
